When did Mina start teaching and choreographing? What has she choreographed?
Mina first started assistant teaching at the age of 13 and was awarded the “Young Choreographer’s Award” in New York at the ripe age of 18. She has since choreographed and taught diverse styles and genres of performing arts across the globe to all ages and levels. She is best known for intertwining jazzy rhythmic dance with theatrical character and comedic timing. Her choreography has been seen in films, on television as well as international stages across the globe. Some of her choreographic credits include: “Magic of Motown”- opening night of Stevie Wonder Concert Celebration on YAS Island, “Martha’s Scandalous Revue”- Barbary Coast Productions, San Francisco Youth Circus’ Award winning mixed media theatrical circus “Impressions”, “Cirque Fantasia” -JCC Theater San Francisco, “Invisible Cities” at Yuerba Buena Performing Arts Center, the long standing and well respected annual “Bracebridge Dinner Show” at Yosemite Theater, Women on the Way Festival- Dance Mission Theater, “ExPand: A Circus Showcase” and “Play!” at Theater Artaud, The Musical “Pippin” at the French American Theater, “Sucker Punch” – NCOC Theater, “Cult Classic” -Black Box Theater NYC, “The Scavenger Show” and “Secret Lives of Custodians”- Bay Area Touring Productions, “Comedy Chef Show”, “The Lucy Show” and “Soap Box Tapper” as part of Dubai’s Desert Surprise Series. Mina was the resident choreographer and Dance Instructor for the Clown Conservatory from 2007-2009, has choreographed numerous Flash Mobs and Surprise Public Improvs including Explorer Magazine’s “Splash Mob” in 2011 and MAC Cosmetics “Hey Sailor” Launches in the UAE and Beirut. Mina is currently the choreographer of Dubomedy Sole Steppers- the first and only professional NYC Tap and Body percussion Troupe in the MENA region as well as adjunct Professor of Dance and Theater at American University of Sharjah where she started teaching the very first accredited dance classes in the country.
